AWARD Award is Australia's most prestigious Advertising award show and Mark was a design representative on the board for 2 years. With this Common was appointed to develop the look and feel of the Award show and beyond, designing and creating the Award Annual, alongside other AWARD marketing material over that period.
The Award show was held at Carriageworks in Sydney, and was in its 35th year. Both the venue and the milestone lent itself to developing an aesthetic that heavily featured heritage, and so the creative was born. A mixture of texture, visual parody’s of heritage and award pencil made up the image, along with the simple type structure.
The AWARD book needed to look and feel like the ‘bible’ of ideas, the cover being treated through various production processes so it appeared to have been authentically plucked from a dusty library. The inside a juxtaposition of this with a contemporary and clean grid aesthetic and brilliant white stock. A contemporary bible of ideas in a classic case.
